GRACE'S volunteers work to promote gynecologic cancer awareness in Central New York. Examples of our education outreach work include:
Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women's Lives Lectures
This program was developed by the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance in 2003. Survivors tell their stories in their own words, providing information about the very real and often overlooked symptoms of ovarian cancer to future medical professionals in a classroom setting. GRACE'S ovarian cancer survivors currently partner with SUNY Upstate Medical University, giving this lecture to all third year medical students during their OB/GYN clerkship. GRACE'S also offers this lecture on a one time basis to other health care professional training programs, such as nursing schools and physician assistant programs.Awareness Days
GRACE’S members partner with others to host gynecologic cancer awareness days at offices, hospitals, health fairs, schools, and other venues. GRACE’S provides awareness literature and helps staff information tables, affording people the opportunity to talk directly with women living with gynecologic cancers.Awareness Literature
GRACE’S provides gynecologic cancer awareness literature to the public via events, health fairs, Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month and Cervical Health Awareness Month activities, and other opportunities. September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and January is Cervical Health Awareness Month.Speakers' Bureau
